Practice Profiles

There are a number or practices that are shaping or have shaped the independent, primary care, I&FM landscape. Below are practice profiles of some of these companies, with each representing one or more competitive advantage, including direct primary care, employer plans, functional medicine and technological advances. Although periodically updated, the profiles here are not meant to be current analysis of the practice and offerings, but are intended as snapshots at what practices have done and how they have evolved, (or closed). 

There are a number of other companies receiving press for their approach. Summaries of some of these companies:

  • Forum Health health acquires established practices and employs providers to deliver personalized medicine. As of October 2022, the listed 58 providers nationwide. (https://forumhealth.com/.
  • SolidaritUS Health is a Washington, DC based company focused on employers and unions. As of October 2022, they had three clinics in Oklahoma and one in Wisconsin (https://solidaritus.com).
  • Carbon Health is a “tech enabled health care company transforming the primary care and urgent care experience” in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Reno, NV. Carbon participates with insurance companies and lists cash prices for services on their website (https://carbonhealth.com/insurance#cash). 
  • Forward offers “unlimited” memberships for $149 a month in southern California, northern California, New York City and Washington, D.C. Membership includes genetic testing, body scans, wellness monitoring and 24 hour access to a care team (https://goforward.com/).
  • Heal provides house calls from doctors with participating insurance companies or for a cash price of $159 in southern California, northern California, northern Virginia, New Jersey and Atlanta, GA (https://heal.com/).
  • SteadyMD operates online in all 50 states (https://www.steadymd.com/).

 There are also companies focused on treating just one or more diagnosis, such as:

Roman has expanded from sexual health, to skin and hair, to other health issues.

Paloma Health provides online treatment of hypothyroidism. 

Everlywell provides direct to consumer lab kits. 

Innovative Medicine markets and sells innovative health and wellness products and has launched their own clinic in New York.

Tia provides a “modern medical home for women” utilizing a hybrid model.
